    Washington County Schools is pleased to announce the new principal at Creswell Elementary School is Dr. Michael Yancey of Creswell, NC. Dr. Yancey is a graduate of Elizabeth City State University, University of Phoenix and received his doctorate from Northcentral University working for Weldon City Schools, and Tyrell County Schools before moving to Dare County. He extends these words regarding his new position, “I am extremely excited and proud to be a part of the WCS family, the Creswell Elementary Family and the Creswell Community. I appreciate the trust that Dr. Carr and the WCS Board has extended to me and I will do my best to make Creswell Elementary School a place where students, families and staff are valued and we ALL can grow as learners, parents and professionals. I will honor the memory of Mrs. Maloney by vowing to continue the positive trends established at CES and open us up to even more love, growth, achievement and community involvement. I am looking forward to meeting the Tiger Cub family and moving into a great school year!”

    Celebrating Ms. Jacqueline Maloney - Creswell Elementary School Principal

    Sharing our heartfelt sympathy for the loss of one of our district administrators,  Ms. Jacqueline Maloney, who was the Principal at Creswell Elementary School. We all know that Ms. Maloney was a positive motivator who believed in our children and public education! We will miss her dearly.
     
    We are each treasured to have known this incredible lady of high energy and dedicated spirit. Ms. Maloney leaves a legacy in our district believing wholeheartedly in the school's mission and vision. Shoot For the Moon - Even if you Miss You will Land Upon the Stars. We will miss this "STAR" of Washington County Schools.
     
    Chairman Carlos Riddick shares, "Ms. Maloney definitely made an indelible impact to the WCS System.  Thank you for your service and love for your staff and your little ones.  Rest in Peace"

    NCSU Transformational Scholarships Program

    How do we create homegrown teachers?  Get the word out to WCS Students!  WCS Staff - help me find Great Candidates to Nominate - Make a personal phone call to college freshmen and current seniors. 

    Happy Friday! The deadline( 11/1) is quickly approaching for the NEW educator scholarship at NC State. It is only for rural Eastern North Carolina. The Transformational Scholarships Program recruits, educates, mentors, and prepares students from Eastern North Carolina to return to their home counties to teach. The program will start with a cohort of 20 students in the 2022-2023 academic year and welcome an additional cohort of 20 students per year in each of the following four years. Each Transformational Scholar will receive $10,000 per year in scholarship support over four years, as well as study-abroad stipends and support for mentoring opportunities, experiential learning experiences, and leadership development.  Please click on the title to read more.

  • WCS Substitute Teacher Refresher Sessions

    SUBSTITUTE REFRESHER TRAINING SESSIONS - The Washington County Schools Human Resources Department will offer a refresher Substitute Training Session for all current Board of Education approved substitutes. You must complete one session of the refresher in order to substitute teach for the 2021-2022 school year.

    Back To School Immunizations

    WCS Parents and Guardians, This is a friendly reminder to have your child’s immunization records updated for the 2021-2022 school year. Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Assessments also need to be completed.  Scholars entering the 7th Grade and 12th Grade need to have their immunization shots updated. Please take this time to make appointments with your Healthcare Providers. Attached are the  requirements by grade levels. Be Safe. Wear your mask. Wash your hands.
