Hello Tiger Cub Family and Friends
This is your principal, Dr. Yancey and I’m honored to be the principal here at Creswell Elementary School. Our mission for Creswell Elementary is to begin establishing the foundation for career and college readiness while leading our community to love the BLUE and live the ORANGE.I’ve never been prouder of the participation that we have had at our school and family events. This began with the fall “Trunk or Treat” through our Science night and we still have a few events to go. Now, as we end Easter / Spring break, just a few reminders. Our goal continues to be anchored in making our Tiger Cub Family the best dual language immersion school in eastern North Carolina. However, this responsibility is not solely resting on the staff of CES. As parents or guardians, there are things that you are responsible for in our equation for success. Make sure our Cubs are rested and on time for school. Support a “drama free” home environment. It’s okay to limit the use of video games and cell phones. If things are chaotic in a child’s life, they tend to bring that chaos to their school life.
Spend time with your Cub having them read to you or you can read to them. Ask questions about what you have read to them and provide them with opportunities to think and discuss their thoughts about different topics. Discuss what it means to be tolerant and forgiving of others. If we live in or value the society of an eye for an eye, eventually everyone is blind. As we approach the end of the year, we will push through with more determination for success.
Thank you, Tiger Cub family, for keeping your Cubs focused on the mission at hand. Thank you for challenging your son or daughter to complete their work at school and to be mindful of their teachers and others. Thank you for trusting your child’s education to Creswell Elementary School, where we are building a better community, one student at a time.
Respectfully,
M.L. Yancey, Ed.D
