Mrs. Danisha Peele is a native of Washington County, she is a proud product of Washington County Public Schools. She went on to further her education at Elizabeth City State University where she majored in Elementary Education. Mrs. Peele’s passion for education developed while working at a local child care facility. She assisted students with their homework and assignments to ensure their success in school. After graduating from ECSU, she decided to return to her hometown to give back to the community.
Originally, Mrs Peele served as a substitute teacher and later became a Math and Science teacher for Washington County Union School, now called Washington County Middle School. During her tenure there she was recognized as a Master Teacher and represented her school twice as Teacher of the Year. She served as grade level chair and she was recognized for being in the top 25% of the state and county for her math scores as a classroom teacher.
Mrs. Peele received her masters in school administration at North Carolina State University through the Northeast Leadership Academy. Thereafter, she served as an intern at the Washington County Early College High School, and then assistant principal at Plymouth High School which is now Washington County High School. Mrs. Peele now serves as the principal of Washington County High School.
